
Currently Fire Chief Fire Chief of the Surfside Beach Fire Department in South Carolina, Chief Rob Clemons has over 32 years of career experience and eight years of volunteer experience in fire and rescue services. He served the Prince William County (VA) Department of Fire and Rescue for 28 years moving up through the ranks and retiring as a Battalion Chief. He retired in 2020 as the Fire Chief for the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department, a position he held for five years.
He developed, led, and instructed many different programs for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Some of the programs included: National Firefighter Near-Miss Reporting System, Training for Regional Collaboration, Volunteer Recruitment and Retention, and National Safety Change Culture Initiative. Chief Clemons has extensive experience in combination fire/EMS departments with strategic planning, recruitment and retention, and company officer development.
